Meet the TRIP Staff
Helping Parents, Like You

The TRIP Staff is dedicated to helping parents who have children with special needs.

As you navigate the health, legal, and school systems, please remember that you are not alone in your situation. We are here to inform, educate, and train parents, who are just like you.

We have either been down this path, or we are still on the path. Each of our stories is unique, and our situations, although similiar, are as individual as each of us.

That is why the TRIP staff is so dedicated, commited, and passionate about our work.

Project Director

Barbara Andrews is a single parent of 2 youth with complex mental health needs. Prior to adopting her children and getting involved in the mental health system, she was in middle management in the banking industry for 12 years.

Barbara is a Certified Peer Counselor, and does numerous trainings on Evidence Based Practices, and also Recovery and Resiliency.

She was an active member for SAFE Washington (Statewide Action for Family Empowerment) for 2 1/2 years. Barbara is now a Network Member of SAFE, and is on the Island County Mental Health Advisory Board.

Certified Peer Counselor

Curtis Dennis, is the married father of 2 children, one of which has special needs. He is also the webmaster for our website, and become involved in the mental health system to advocate for his son, and others.

Curtis is a Certified Peer Counselor, and the leader of the North Sound Regional Chapter of the Washington State Dads Network. One of his goals is to empower other Dads in advocating for their children.
