Saturday in the Park Reserve Your Spots for This Free Event
Greetings all,
Register here for Saturday in the Park... In addition to the support and trainings that TRIP offers, we also put together some social events for the families we serve in our area. Our first event for this year is "Saturday in the Park". It will be happening on Saturday, May 3, 2008. So mark your calendars now, and fill out the online registration at the bottom of this page, to save your spots. This event is being co-sponsored by TRIP-NS and Washington Dads Statewide Network. Saturday in the Park starts with a free boat tour courtesy of Deception Pass Tours. Our family has taken the tour a couple of times now, and Captain Brett and his crew are very familiar with the Deception Pass area. They have a knack of finding bald eagles and their nests, blue herrons, porpoises, and even some of the orca whales. While on the tour, the crew has photos to pass around, blankets in case it gets chilly, and even a few pairs of binoculars to share with other guests. Captain Brett has agreed to provide the tour free of charge to our families, and the crew has agreed to volunteer their time for this event, as well. Our scheduled departure times are 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 1:00 pm. The captain has asked that we only reserve spots for the immediate family members, so we accomodate as many families as possible for this event. Thanks in advance for your understanding. Tickets will be picked up by our staff the day before the event, and then handed out at the pier, just before the boat tour. So please be a little early, rather than a little late.... After the great boat tour, we will leave the marina, and travel across Highway 20 to Deception Pass Park. We have a picnic shelter and tables to accomodate about 100 people. There is no admission charge involved to enter the park, either. The picnic shelter is on the edge of Cranberry Lake, with ADA accessibility and restrooms. Nearby there is a swimming area, trails to hike, and a west facing beach where you can watch the waves roll in. You can also enjoy the wildlife that abounds, and numerous photo opportunities in and around the park. A few things you might want to bring along with you... Camera Jackets/Blankets Binoculars Snacks and drinks Football, frisbees, baseball mitts, etc.
The following items are NOT allowed in the park... Eggs Balloons Campfires must be in provided fire rings only Alcohol
At this time, we are asking that you provide your own lunch, but we are working on getting food provided. I will keep you posted on that detail of the event via email, and here at the site. The registration form is below, Curtis
