Regional Support Network Get Access to All Programs In Your Area
Regional Support Networks are the programs responsible for the administration of publicly-funded mental health services for their assigned service area. RSNs contract for outpatient, crisis, residential, and inpatient services through licensed local mental health agencies. The primary focus of these Regional Support Networks is to serve Title 19 (TXIX) Medicaid eligible adults who have chronic and persistent mental illness, and children/youth with severe emotional disturbances. Individuals without Medicaid may receive acute care and crisis services based on the availability of funding, which is monitored by the Regional Support Network. The services provided are a vital part of maintaining the communities overall health, safety, and quality of life. Some Regional Support Networks are responsible for a single county, while others may serve several counties. The lines are drawn based on population, so King county has its own RSN, while the North Sound RSN covers Island, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties. The Regional Support Network for the North Sound is the North Sound Mental Health Administration, and you may hear it called NSMHA (pronounced niz-ma, another acronym), when talking with the local service providers in your area. There are three levels of care for Regional Support Network funded mental health treatment.
- Level 0: No medical necessity for mental health treatment. The consumer does not have a diagnosable mental health disorder and does not meet RSN enrollment criteria. The consumer is eligible to receive crisis services with up to three follow-up crisis intervention sessions.
- Level 1: The consumer has a medical necessity for brief services, has a diagnosable mental disorder, and does not meet RSN enrollment criteria. The consumer is eligible for up to eight brief intervention sessions and crisis services.
- Level 2: The consumer has a medical necessity for intensive mental health services, has a diagnosable mental disorder, and meets RSN enrollment criteria.
